Meet our programme cohorts!

Introducing the incredible creative businesses on our first stage one cohort of the Create South East programme. Our first cohort of stage 1 businesses started their programme in November 2023 and have since completed their time on the programme in April 2024. We will be continuing to support and champion their growth wherever possible and we look forward to sharing their journey’s! Here is a run-down of our exceptional businesses:

Stage 1 – Cohort 1

Buckle Up Entertainment (Film & TV)

Buckle Up Entertainment is a UK Film & Series production company delivering a diverse slate of commercial dark and edgy genre projects from emerging talent.

MI Pixel (Video Games)

MI Pixel is an indie games studio fuelled by a passion for 80s/90s retro gaming. Their small but dedicated team combines the nostalgia of classic games with a modern twist, creating unique gaming experiences that capture the essence of the golden era.

MI Pixel also specialize in building software applications tailored to your personal or company needs. Whether you require a custom software solution or a gaming application to enhance your brand, we have the skills and creativity to bring your vision to reality.

Sensory Design and Technology (Design)

Sensory Design & Technology is a pioneer in wearable sensory technology for applications in Fashion, Jewellery and Wellness. The company is developing a product called ‘eScent’ whereby mood, feeling and perception triggers a calming Scent Bubble in real-time.

Squid Shack Studios (Film & TV)

Building their award-winning documentary about the Kentish micropub movement (Micropubs: The New Local), Squid Shack Studios is an emerging production company with a mission statement to develop, produce, and distribute projects with a connection to Kent & the South East for both national and international audiences.

Swerve Games (Video Games)

An independent British studio that creates free-flowing sports games with intuitive controls and a rewarding learning curve.

TechNative Digital (Software & Computer Services)

TechNative Digital are closing the Tech Skills Gap by developing programmes for more people to get into tech through industry sponsored bootcamps, tech meetups and support for education providers to work closer with industry.

The Holding Time Project (Visual Arts)

The Holding Time Project is an Art & Health intervention aimed at accelerating the normalisation process of breastfeeding for new mums. Centred around a Wellbeing journey, it uses In Real Life and virtual experiences to improve understanding about breastfeeding issues and challenges.

Unsettled Theatre (Theatre)

Unsettled Theatre is a company that was forged at the height of a global pandemic. They are a driven unit of creatives that look to tell untold stories.

Unsettled Theatre’s ethos is around delivering creativity in all forms and developing the skills of young people in the creative industry. Unsettled Theatre produce and run the podcast series ‘But Why?’ – discussing working as creatives, the tips and tricks, our failures and ‘ta-dah’ moments and what we learnt.

UTA Architects (Architecture)

Ulla Tervo Architects is an RIBA Chartered architecture practice, consisting of a full-time director and a network of freelance staff and consultant specialist advisors.

UTA Architects are passionate about using design as a problem-solving tool in a client-centred approach, with a focus on creating healthy buildings that have research-backed benefits for occupants and owners, as well as sustainable construction practices. They believe that good architecture should enhance both human wellbeing and their skills and abilities.

Vaticinate Pictures (Film & TV)

Vaticinate Pictures is a production company of writer/director Shan Ng and producer Robert Williams operating in Southend.

Developing and producing projects in both English and Chinese language.
