I’m delighted to have joined Create South East, and am looking forward to working with people across the region in aid of business growth and investment.
My personal creative background is informed by craft and collaboration. I grew up above my mum’s wool shop, studied textiles design, and have a visual arts practice of participatory, site-specific installation and performance using knitting. On other projects I’ve collaborated to set-up and run creative workspace, co-founded a contemporary annual Pride event, and deliver arts festivals and programming.
Working on a previous business support scheme, I met small-business leaders across our area, in sectors including fashion, design, performance, music, film, games, digital, photography, art and architecture. The talent within the region is extraordinary, as is the deep, equitable leadership currently unlocking potential for those who have been historically excluded.
Commitments to local rootedness and global awareness are at the heart of much regional place-making – re-imagining an environmentally sustainable and technologically innovative future. It’s an exciting time to be working with creative businesses and investors to deliver a programme with tangible impact!
Dan Chilcott is our Strategic Lead on the Create South East Programme. As well as directing the strategic delivery of the programme, Dan engages with creative businesses across the region and champions the creative industries to investor communities.
