Hatsumi’s most recent project, Soul Paint, was featured in this space and offered the opportunity for visitors to experience this immersive storytelling and mental health tool for themselves.

Unfolding at the nexus of immersive technology, creative storytelling and wellbeing, Soul Paint delves into the richness of the embodied human experience.

Create South East’s communications officer, Reb, visited the festival to experience Soul Paint first hand. Using headphones, VR headset, and controllers, the demo took you through a painting session with your emotions. The game asks users to consider how their bodies feel and how they would imagine their emotions, helping to voice your experiences with the game. Narrated by Rosario Dawson, the experience helped to relax the mind and body and offered a look into fellow users stories.
